GARIGLIONE'S WOODS
This itinerary, inside the Calabrian National Park of Little Sila, is in the heart of Gariglione's wood that is one of the most famous wood of the Sila.From the Forestal Resort of Gariglione, you can penetrate in a suggestive path that winds along the slopes of the omnipresent beeches and the elegant fir-trees.
The path skirts the high Soleo Valley and, after a tortuous way, leads to a wide glade of "Macchia dell'Orso" (The Bear's Bush).
At this point, turning towards north, you climb up an acclivity and descending along a decline for about 1 Km., you get to a large forestal track "Mamma Giuseppina" that is an ancient railway-narrow tracing.
Going on a western for about three Kms, you will run across a monumental specimen of white fir-tree with a circumference of over fine metres, that
will give you the sensation of the powerful and primordial charm of the ancient wood.
Finally climbing up this acclivity you will get to one of the Gariglione's anti-peaks from were you can ebjoy a wide sight of the Silan summit.
FALLISTRO WOODS
From Camigliatello Silano, go on the State Road 107 Paola-Crotone till the cross-road "Croce di Magara", turn on right towards "Valle Inferno" and after a Km. enter a way that is visible also from the road and that leads to the wood.
Fallistro Wood in "Sila Grande" represents a natural monument really unique in his kind. Here you can find a grouped presence of about 50 enormous specimens of larch-trees and mountain maples with a 40 metre height, with a two metre diameter and an age of about 400 years. This is the last surviving example of a primitive forest, renamed "The Sila's Giants".
The Way is very easy and smooth inside the five hectares of biogenetic preserve purposely created to protect the integrity of "The Giants".
Fallistro is a really natural santuary, a sort of magic eden where you feel carried out time in an unchangeable, eternal and primordial dimension.
The huge trunks rise suddenly from a green and very rich undergrowth: dogrose, wild apple-tree, hawthorn, fern and various gramineae. High mountain maples, groups of aspens with wonderful colours and Young beeches, complete this panorama.

GREEK SILA
Leaving the Sibari way out on the motor way "SA-RC", you continue towards Corigliano, Rossano, till the cross-road with the road leading to "Santa Maria del Patire" where you will enter.
At about six Kms from the Church you will find a path in locality "Piano del Sorbo" . Walking along this path, you will get into a wood rich of essences and at this height formed of turkey oaks, mountain beeches, oaks firs and with enormous chestnut trees. Then You will get to a cross-road; turning on right you will get to a wide horse-shoed plane for cattle, from where you could enjoy a wonderful sight on the steep "Cino's Valley".
Then you will get down the slope following a rather visible track. This last is wedged among walls and precipices and it has been preserved from erosion by several dry-wallings and by big stone steps.
Getting out from a secular oak-grove, you will find yourselves into a very thick and luxuriant Mediterranean Bush: evergreen oaks, maple-trees, hornbeams, manna-ashes, to which rare "bagolari" and "fillirea" mixed up.
The path now turns into a little side valley on which, after crossing a little stream, strats again to climb on the opposed side.
Once left the path and following the stream's bed, you will get to the boudless bed of the Cino's torrent. Then you will see a water main intake and immediately after one of the Cino's affluent. It will be necessary to go up it
again for a hundred of metres in order to find a new path on the left side of the deep walley.
This new path will allow you to climb up the slope till a little plateau.
Proceding alone the ridge in N-E direction you will meet a new levelled ground leading to the main road of "Pesco Patire" and after a Km. you get back to the starting
point.
